A. Make your own dirt
B. Haul in truckloads of materials.

Both of which were a lot easier when the garden and I were younger.
Pile
These kiddos are now teenagers.

Do you think that now is a good time to tell them what they thought was earth was really dairy compost?

Cute pics. Very funny. Not sure you should ever tell them it was dairy compost.

It's not my fault they jumped in without asking, or I could have told um it wasn't just dirt !

I hadn't jumped in before Maggie, because I was convinced, that with the white faces and shades, they were mannequins. Couldn't believe that a loving mother with teenagers would leave the heads exposed. J

They aren't mine :-)

Ah! so you bury other peoples children! Do you work on a comission basis? J

By Maggie on Friday, October 27, 2000 - 1:34 pm: Edit Post

Alex did it - I swear I didn't have to do with it. David said a commercial compost making co around here composts whole cows (dead, I hope). So if someone was interested in being rid of a body cheap ... this is getting out of control!

Yah-ha-ha-ha-HA!!! Funny looking potatoes, those are. Or could they be "Teenager Tubers"? Those are on my "Aack!" list with Poison Ivy ~ I'm allergic to both. ;-)

By Maggie on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 - 1:48 am: Edit Post

What about when you were a teenager Wingnut?? Bet ya weren't allergic to them
then ;-)

By David on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 - 1:50 am: Edit Post

Yes, The Composting outfit said they could compost a (Died) Cow in two days!!!!! When they turned the pile of compost over two days later all that was left was one bone 8" long......Head and all was gone......Now that is a HOT compost pile......I would not get in there that's for sure....Hi, Wingnut I still have some of your mud inside my door jam of my car....Just to remind of your great plant swap!!! See ya in the Spring!!!

By Maggie on Friday, December 01, 2000 - 2:23 am: Edit Post

She should come to our swap too David!
Is anyone else as curious as I about her choice of 'Wingnut'?
My family knows I have this thing about S-hooks. I'm always buying them and using them up (or losing them up). Common reply to "Where's Mom", is,,,
"Probably gone to the hardware store for more S-hooks."
Maybe L has a thing for wingnuts?!

I did wonder but thought it may be impolite to ask, after all it could be a private affliction.

By Maggie on Wednesday, December 06, 2000 - 1:25 pm: Edit Post

Sounds like something David would come up with !

By Wingnut on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 - 8:35 pm: Edit Post

Yeah, Maggie, when I was a teenager they weren't too bad. But back then they wore pants that FIT. ;-)
My name? I would love to regale you all with a farout story of my days as a fighter pilot who had an affinity for aeronautic acrobatics (Tee-hee-hee!), but in truth the origins of my name are one of those "Aww, ain't that cute!" stories. When my younger nephew was learning to talk, "Aunt Linda" came out something like "Anwinga". My older nephew said, "It sounds like he's saying 'Aunt Wingnut'!" At the time I had just begun my "career" as a demolition derby driver, so it stuck. And since everywhere I go on the 'net there's another Linda, it's lots less "corn"fusing to go by Wingnut.
I'd love to come to a swap at Maggie's! Are you having one in the spring, Maggie? Since Mike Stubbs in Bastrop and Candida Francis in LaVernia offered to host a couple in the spring, Kenny and I may not ~ we very well may be too busy with all our gardening projects and adding onto the house (but we're planning on another out here in the fall!). I hope we're not too busy to go to those two AND Maggie's.
Hey, David, so THAT'S where it went! ;-)

Yep, our parents griped about too-tight jeans and now the kids are wearing clown pants !
We are not sure about having a swap this spring either Wingnut. I'll let you know if we do tho.

Look what I found

Well, doesn't THAT just peg me right down! Seriously interesting link, Maggie! Thanks! I looked up "Kenny" and same goes there ~ he can figure out how to do anything, usually does it himself rather than ask anyone to help him as he says, "I can do it in half the time it'll take me to explain it to someone else." And, like me, he does get tired of everyday things, prefers new challenges ~ THERE'S where all the wild ideas we have for the farm come from!
Y'all should go to Maggie's link and put around with your own names ~ fun!

By Maggie on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 - 9:46 pm: Edit Post

It even has Moggy !

By Terry on Thursday, December 14, 2000 - 2:05 pm: Edit Post

It doesn't have duckweed. L

By Wingnut on Thursday, December 14, 2000 - 10:54 pm: Edit Post

Kenny's nickname is Skinny Kenny, so after showing Kenny what Maggie found for "Wingnut", I looked up "Skinny" ~ it fits him MUCH better! I'll tell you what, between the two of them, it's a 90% perfect match. How wild!
