I didn't have the luxury of mail-ordering anything this spring, but I wrote a version of this article last year after receiving a bonanza of summer bulb orders! It was like being a kid at Christmas time again :-)
Your comment about forgotten arrivals brought back some lovely memories of when my garden was in it's youth and large consignments arrived just as I was about to head off to work. Those were long days waiting to get homw and see what I had ordered. I suppose a true gardener never tires of watching a new addition put on growth and flower. Now if I could just get clear of this bathroom project and head for the garden centre.
I would hate to have to wait to get home from an office to garden Terry. Can you even imagine it now that you've been at home? I think I would be 'sick' so often that they'd let me take off for good ;-)
A reader wrote to ask if the Eucomis returned this year. Since it was one of my "on the border of our zone limits trials", I planted 2 of them in large pots with asparagus fern and took them in the grnhouse for winter. Then I experimented with a third one in a south-facing bed. None have popped back up yet, but am hoping they will when the soil warms up some more.
