I can't figure where else to put this..
but I'm sooo excited to have one live (nevermind bloom) for me that I just had to post it :-)
1st phalaenopsis

A store was about to throw them out and I convinced them to let me have a few for a buck each. It was against store policy to give even dead things away, but the token price made it work.

They had finished their shelf bloom and were not looking too good, but seem to have pulled out of it okay.

I have never had any in summer - have always rec'd them in winter and watched them die in a window,, pre greenhouse. So I should be able to enjoy these now, while they live happily outdoors in summer and while knowing they will have a nice humid place this winter... if I don't overwater them or whatever else might zap them ;)

Congratulations Maggie! I can't imagine that YOU of all people would have a problem with any kind of plant. You sound like me making deals on plants! We did the same thing and have now gotten TWO (!) ...2....to not only grow, but both have bloomed as well. One is orchid and the other white. I never dreamed of putting them out of doors. Ours are in the kitchen window and I dare not move them! The only problem I ran into was when one of them set buds, 1 bud opened and 2 buds fell completely off prior to opening. I was told it had something to do with watering. Apparently, they are extremely tempermental. I know how excited I was over the blooms so I share in your enthusiasm as well! Good job.
