Maggies Garden Forum: Come Stroll Articles: March 10, 2001 article

Tis the season to dig new beds or start wheeling plants around in established borders - oh that we could just roll them here and there,,, instead of digging them up and digging their new holes!
With the border-making season upon us, I chose to write the first March Come Stroll on my 'labortory site' - the sunny Long Border - to inspire maximizing a Texan garden's blooming potential.

For those with new beds, your article offers such great ideas to have a succession of blooms! Hope all those silent "lurk-ers" on the edge of the forum take notes! Thanks for all the pixes, Maggie!

Thanks Gail.oxox
The patch of white in the early-summer pic is feverfew that came from MamaKane in West Virginia, when we did a plant trade by mail. It is like what you said about the grape hyacinths Terry, how they become weeds for others, but won't stick around for you - feverfew is the same for me. I've already been out there looking for signs of its seedlings - not a one yet, fingers crossed tho.
The next comestrollie is about the type of grape hy that do return and multiply in Texas, since the Dutch-bred ones will not survive our summers. Maybe these-uns might like your garden better too Terry - seems unlikely, climatewise,,, but gardeners never say never, right? Everything's up for a try when it comes to flowers!
