Have posted some autumn pics on a new Come Strollie
Long Border
Taken Nov 24, 02, during that golden hour
So pretty!! Possom Haw in the very back? And what is the russet tall plant coming forward? I've noticed everybody's Crepe Myrtles colored grandly this fall. In the foreground--fall blooming Iris? I've heard of such. Well, we've had some beautiful "golden hours" the past couple of weeks, but I guess they're over now. Brrr. Time to turn on the heat.
Yes, the repeat iris is ‘Buckwheat’ (thanks again David). I also have 2 white repeaters – ‘Immortality’ and ‘Skating Party’. And hey Gail – remember that dwarf purple one I got from you at plant swap? It is also in bloom right now.
Yes - both the burgundy and orange tall bits are crepe myrtles. There are a lot of little dots of autumn color that do not show up in the pic – Tagetes lemmoni and lucida, Malvaviscus blooms and berries, Verbenas, Verbesina daisies, a stalk or two of Solidago (remnants of trying to remove the pretty, but invasive thing), ornamental grass seed heads, rose hips and such.
We have so enjoyed the last few days of 70* temps and the last of the borders’ blooms after all that Oct rain. Getting that nice stretch of wonderful weather almost makes tonight’s first frost almost bearable,,, well,, nearly
Someone on my street was so enthused about the cold front coming in that they were already burnign wood in their fireplace last night! Smelled so cozy from outside.
