Evergreens and Eversilvers for winter foliage.
Here's another goodun - Scabosia 'Butterfly Blue'-they have stayed green all winter and some of the 16 plants have bloomed non-stop. The short freezes melt the open blooms, but does not damage the flower buds, which open when it warms again.
This was taken 12-24 and they all look even better now, but I don't have a recent pic on file. That is one very bedraggled Painted Lady butterfly on the left side. She seems to have suffered a long hard life into December!
And James has great evidence of bluebonnets being *very* evergreen. I'll shrink and post the pics at next sitting. They are also great evidence that it really does snow a proper amount, in some parts of Tex
Okay, after this Texas Panhandle snow melted,
James' bluebonnets were still green!
Here's another relatively new plant in this garden - artichoke - that has stayed evergreen these last 2 winters, altho I would cover them if we were to get the odd Arctic freeze.
This pic was taken last summer and is described here
It is more green in summer than now. Caro and I were admiring how very silvery blue it is at this time of year. Must try to catch that color with a winter pic soon.
and some other winter color from the red twig dogwood.
Is that a newbie Maggie? I'm trying to figure out what bed it is in and if I've seen it before???
It was new last year - is in the front near garage wall. The gargoyle guards Nigel's final garden rest. We lost our dear old little friend last year, but I love still seeing him on the site pictures.
