Our hurricane season usually quenches the late bulbs into bloom. This year, it was a wonderful dose of English summer weather in Sept and Oct!
Loved the article. Think I'll print out the pic of the Lycoris and tape it on a stick next to the lovely Lycoris foliage that forgot to bloom. Actually, I think the hoppers ate the buds. Sure, why not? They ate everything else....
I should remind you, however, it was I who brought the English weather back to Texas.
Caro, We will talk about all the stuff you brought back from England with you??? You know it is not out of the question for Lycoris to not bloom the first or second years in the ground??? So don't give up on them.....My brother was surprised to have some bloom for him at his new house in the Country......
I may just drive by that gorgeous new house today on the way to the hog auction (country life again ). Glad to know about the Lycoris. Still think I will move them. On a couple of them, I actually did see the little buds coming out of the ground, only to find them gnawed off the next day. Its hoppers, I tell you.
Oh, and Maggie, are you sharing those gorgeous pink Lycoris? (read this as "Pick me! Pick me!)
Okay Caro, I'll remember that if I ever get the urge to rip them out - rrright
See why I had to threaten her with the snake , Mk?! ;-)
