They sure are glad to finally get some spring rain - so long overdue.
Crazy weather - yesterday it was 93* - nearly broke the all-time high for that date. Today, it was in the 50s with all day rain.
I had my first swim of the year yesterday, and had to dig around for wool socks this morning.
I'm forecasting a mild summer with decent rains this year. knock wood.
Wellll how'd I do? We've had lovely rain spells in June, July and August and hardly any over-100* days compared to usual. The Gulf Stream must have carried them all to Europe this year.
How'd you like that Texas weather in London Nicola?
Need a translation for Pride of Barbados, Maggie or David. Was never any good at languages at school, now I'm asking for Latin rather than English...must be an age thing.I'm not getting older, just more classical...lol
It is Caesalpinia pulcherrima, formerly Poinciana pulcherrima.
Here is a nice profile page on it. Those pastel ones sure are pretty – had not seen them before.
Here is its cousin.
Classical? What have you been reading lately - been breaking into my puter again? Terry, YOU are a classic … case of something …
In Texan......it is also known as Mexican Bird of Paradise.....
