I spent some time with the camera in the garden on Christmas Eve. Amazing how much color there was to be found.

I don't remember the snowball viburnum keeping its autumn color so long in the past.

The Euphorbia is my new love.

There were even some Red Cascade roses left to bring in for the dining table.

This was one was a real delight! David - it is the 'Buckwheat' repeat iris you gave me!

Ooooooooooo so much color in December! I'm so jealous but I keep telling myself "just remember how hot TX will be in the summer" :)

I had some nice green things like feverfew and clary sage, but the deer have been steadily munching. They would have been mush by now, so at least the deer got a treat. They're working on the dried stems of the flowers now - maybe I won't have much to clean out come spring. One deer has discovered the hanging basket I use for a bird feeder. I'm trying to get her picture, but so far she has been camera shy. I have some lamb's ear sticking wooly ears out of the snow that I enjoy everytime I go out.

Okay, I went out and played in the spring-like weather some more, instead of shrinking the pics today :) But if those loaded for you guys, I'm thinking I'm off the hook by now ;-)

Bet you'll have that shy one eating out of your hands in no time MK oxoxo

Which Euphorbia is that Maggie? A lot look very similar. I have them coming up from seed all over the front garden, but at this time of year with so little looking good I can't bear to take them out.

Hope I've covered everything, been away a while and it doesn't do a last month... :)

E. characias wulfenii. I brought in a huge flower head to dry, instead of letting it seed. But that's alright, since Caro was here today, I now have more room in the greenhouse to root up some Euph pieces ;-)

Oh, and that red viburnum bush pic above, makes a killer wallpaper. Makes me want to reach for my shades.

Mine does not show as much red as yours, Maggie, must be a temperature or soil thing. Hmmmm the Euphorbia I mean...embarrassment narrowly avoided there... :)

Glad you explained that Ter - gee, I thought you meant the viburnum ;-)
Naw,,, you are right - I hadn't noticed it till you said,, but , yes, the pic shows the new growth way too red. It is more burgundy.

And if anyone doubts that iris bloomed in winter - ask Caro - she saw it herself, huh Caro? :)

Yep. Even in the dead 'o winter, Mag's garden is bloomin.

And, Mags, I'll be planting those lovely plants you gave me today.
