I live in Dallas, Texas and my bougainvillea is outside in a pot, braced to the wall of our home, facing West. There is a tree nearby so it gets partial sun. I bought it last year and put it in our enclosed atrium last winter. It did bloom this spring. Now outside, the blooms fell off and still have not grown.

I fed the plant with the food that comes in monicules (sp?) ...it feeds the plant over 3 months. Also, I fed the plant some liquid feed.

Also, we've had lots of rain in June, and some already in July.

The leaves look a bit limp. I'm watering every other day. I don't know when you feed and when not to feed. I don't know what to feed and what not to feed. I wanted flowers all summer...is that even possible? I thought they grew all year when I lived in California. Is it only Spring and Fall?

Help! I want my fantacy house come to life with the pink blooms from my plant.

Thank you,
Bloomless

The closer it grows to the equator, the more often it will set new blooms, because flowering is instigated when the night and day lengths are near equal. That happens in DFW in spring and fall. There is more a detailed piece on growing them around here at this link.
It was written for wintering over, but also covers summer cultivation.

I apply an organic rose food to the bougie pots in late summer and again in late winter. Beginning in spring, all my pot plants are sprayed once or twice a month with liquid foods such as compost tea and /or seaweed and fish plant food. Some years they skip a season of bloom, then produce all the more the next season – but it is so worth the wait.

You might consider adding a pot of Mandevilla near the bougi. If it gets enough sun and good care, it has the potential of blooming constantly. There are several varieties of pink and there is a luscious white one out there this year.
If you like yellow, consider this

I have a hanging bougainvillea plant, and I think it's dying! I have tried watering it every day, and I have tried watering it not so often, just to see what works the best. Nothing is working. Some of the leaves are starting to fall off and the blooms(that are left)are turning brown. How can I bring it back to life?

If you live in as hot a climate as mine in North Texas, move it to less light for the mid to late summer months. My bougies like full sun in spring and early summer, and only morning sun or full bright shade thereafter until Oct.

If you don’t think its getting too much full sun, repot it in a slightly larger container and add as much fresh, rich, new soil as you can, without disturbing its roots.

If you decide to repot the plant, move it to a more shaded site - regardless of your climate, until it perks up. Just keep the soil evenly moist with good drainage, spray its foliage with liquid food once a week and let me know how its doing in a few weeks.

All of this will improve any problems except a bad case of rootrot caused by lack of decent drainage. If it has that, you will know it by the smell when you remove root ball from the container. ,,, in which case, you get go plant shopping for a replacement.

Let us know how goes.

An excess of nitrogen and/or lack of phosphate is often the culprit of non-blooming pot plants. Most any rose food has a good balance for potted tropical bloomers.

The following link will give you more info. It pertains to growing potted bougies in Texas. I don’t know where you are, but hope it will give you some more clues to work with.
