Airy wands of Verbena bonariensis do their best here in late spring -- early summer, but still contribute dots of colors throughout the seasons. Nearly the only hybrid roses in the garden are in this small collection of "blues"; Sterling Silver, Blue Girl, and Blue Moon. They would much prefer more sun, light and air, yet they honor me with some violet scented blooms in this less than perfect site. In a garden as crowded as this, we must accept some tradeoffs to reap what we can.
